Dear Friends and Benefactors,
I am writing this month's letter on behalf of His Excellency Bishop Williamson and you may very well wonder why. Our dear Bishop by his very example is preaching the importance of the Spiritual Exercise of St. Ignatius: these Exercises are so important indeed that he is spending thirty days of his busy schedule at a retreat in France to recharge his spiritual batteries, while the mail is piling up on his desk here! Highly commended by the Popes, from Paul III to Paul VI, the Exercises of St. Ignatius can be called the Jesuits' greatest contribution to the Church as an instrument for the salvation of souls. As a proof of it, let me quote one of the 180 faithful who came to our five Ignatian retreats this summer: "It was the best week of my life, not the easiest, but the best. After years of doubt and confusion I have come home to peace and a focused mind as to what God wants me to do. This was my first retreat, but definitely not my last."
In the summertime the main apostolate of our seminarians is to organize boys camps. In South Dakota, Montana, and Michigan, the boys got more than just clean fun and good friends in scenic surroundings, away from TV and its filth: they had daily Mass, Catechism, and altar boy training, as well as the example of fine young men who have dedicated their lives to Christ. A novelty this year was Fr. Pfeiffer's Eucharistic Crusade Reunion: 38 boys first, then 50 girls came to the seminary to increase their love for JESUS in the Blessed Eucharist. It is our patron Saint, Pope St. Pius X, who started to call the children to take back from the devil the souls in his clutches, just as the Crusaders took back the tomb of Our Lord from the Moslems. Knowing that Our Lord loves in a special way the little ones because of their pure hearts, and knowing how much He wants them to come to Him, St. Pius X allowed children to receive Holy Communion as soon as they have attained the use of reason and understand that JESUS is in the consecrated Host. But it was his successor, Pope Benedict XV, who formally mobilized the Crusaders of the Eucharist. He had tried to stop the bloodshed of the First World War which was destroying the Catholic countries of Europe, but his efforts had been fruitless because this war was the work of the Free-Masons cleverly playing with national prides. Utterly disgusted with the so-called wisdom of men, Benedict XV decided to trust only God's folly and in 1916 he asked all the bishops of the world to call the children of their dioceses to go to Communion for the intention of the Pope. "Trembling about the salvation of mankind, We seek an answer in the thought that God loves better the innocence of the little ones than the penance of the grown-ups. . . The Almighty is accustomed to choose the weak of this world to put to shame the deceitful might of this world. . . May God, not yet appeased by the dire chastisement of His people, finally be touched by the tears of the little ones. Indeed they are the tears of the Just One, of His Son the Redeemer of the world. One child alone, by the shining purity of his soul in state of grace, moves God's Heart. Therefore would not thousands of children today love JESUS' Heart?" And in the same month of July 1916 Heaven itself gave its stamp of approval to the Eucharistic Crusade with the apparition of the Angel to the three children of Fatima, giving them Holy Communion and asking them to offer sacrifices for sinners. Thus, throughout Europe, children began to offer up Communions, prayers, and sacrifices, to obtain the end of the war. But even afterwards the Eucharistic Crusade went on. After the peace of men, the little Crusaders aimed at obtaining the peace of God by the public acknowledgment of Christ's kingship over the world. Indeed, there can be no lasting peace if Our Lord does not reign in the laws and lives of nations. In 1932 the Eucharistic Crusade, numbering three million children, was canonically approved by Pope Pius XI, who gave the Crusaders a special intention every month. But this powerful army was disbanded at the time of the Council, the Church leaders dreaming of a truce with the world, while Sister Lucy warned of an unprecedented spiritual war. Our Lady told her that the devil is engaging in a decisive battle, the final battle. The Church is in fact deeply infiltrated by her enemies and left defenseless by ecumenism and modernism.
Then, "what is there for us to do??. . . We must start a Crusade! A Crusade based on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, on the Blood of JESUS Christ, based on this invincible rock, on this never-failing source of grace which is the Mass." (Archbishop LEFEBVRE, Golden Jubilee, 1979) This is why, in the fight against destruction of the Church and for the restoration of Christ's social rights, the Society of St. Pius X has revived the Eucharistic Crusade, in our chapels throughout the world. "The Eucharistic Crusade is aimed at the innocence of children. With its supernatural spirit, it will powerfully contribute to overcome the baneful spirit of naturalism. Thus, like in the past, thanks to its revival, innumerable souls of children will be kept and strengthened in the Catholic Faith, they will grow in the love of God, and thus sanctified, will be prepared for their future tasks in the Church and in society. May this spark spread far and wide so as to become a huge fire in the souls of thousands of children and thus enkindle the whole society with greater love for Our Eucharistic Lord." (Very Rev. Schmidberger).
Concerning the war waged by the devil against the Church, if you want to understand his strategy, read "The Whole Truth About Fatima: The Third Secret" by Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity. According to the wishes of His Excellency, the enclosed flyer will enable you to order "the most important book about the most important event of the twentieth century" from "The Fatima Crusader". Bishop Williamson agrees with the late Cardinal Cerejeira: "In the light of Fatima we have the deeper explanation of the history of our times, such as God sees it, and such as at really is." This fascinating book shows the embryo of today's crisis in the pontificate of the saintly Pope Pius XII. Deceived by some close collaborators in love with Modernists and Communists, Pius XII failed to comply with the request of Heaven. Like the French King who failed to consecrate France to the Sacred Heart and thereby allowed the Free-Masons to set ablaze the spiritually disarmed country with the inferno of the Revolution; likewise Pope Pius XII, by not properly consecrating Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, allowed the Revolution in the Church. This book will convince you that the third secret of Fatima is about the great apostasy of our days, as foretold in Scripture. Why have the Popes refused to reveal it, if not because it is an indictment of Vatican II:' "In effect it is clear that Sister Lucy wants to suggest to us – in 1917, Our Lady had announced the crisis of the Faith, proposing her message as the anticipated response, the divine remedy far this menacing apostasy: 'Foreseeing this (present) disorientation, the Virgin recommended recitation of the Rosary with such insistence' as 'the prayer most apt for preserving the Faith in souls'. She insisted so much 'as if to arm us in advance against this time of diabolical disorientation, so that we would not let ourselves be fooled by false doctrines.' These words of the seer are explained perfectly and take on all their significance, if on July 13, 1917, in Her third Secret, the Blessed Virgin announced precisely this 'diabolical disorientation' which would suddenly invade the Church, if Her requests were not obeyed. And if the times we are living in are those of 'the Power of Darkness', the hour of satan's final offensive against the Church of Christ, it is not astonishing that just as in the Gospel, this hour is also the hour of Peter's great temptation, and perhaps his fall as well."(ibid., p.760).
Dear Friends, pray the Rosary every day if you want you and your loved ones to pass through the storm and reach the harbor of eternal life! In your family Rosary remember in particular the mother of Father Bourmaud, who passed away on August 1st, and also Mrs. Matel, who is still in a critical condition. This mother of 5 (from St. Marys, KS) was helping with the girls' Eucharist:ic Crusade Reunion when she had a stroke and nearly died.
Finally, let me express our gratitude for your faithful support which allows the seminary to pay its debts little by little (we still awe $ 200,000!). I remind you that whoever pledges a regular contribution, however small, receives the Newsletter by First Class and not just bulk mail.
May St. Pius X keep you strong in the true Faith, and may Our Lady of Sorrows give you a greater patience in offering your daily cross with the Holy Sacrifice of her divine Son!
Truly yours in JESUS and MARY,
Rev. Fr. Delaplace
